Did you wonder what was up with today’s Google logo!?!?
It’s Bloomsday! In James Joyce’s novel “Ulysses” June 16th, 1904 was the day Leopold Bloom perigrinated, sometimes drunkenly, through Dublin. Today is the 100th anniversary and it almost makes me want to go back and reread it. But I think I sold my copy for beer allowance when I was living in New Orleans. How apropos.
Sometimes Joyce is easier to read about, so I will not hold it against you if you go for some critical essays on the subject. I love reading about literature.
Or go completely shorthand and check out a fab film “James Joyce’s Women” as well as “Nora” (or read the Bio, I did).
If you’re really brave go straight to the meat of the matter and check out Joyce’s *cough* erotic letters to his wife. They’re SAUCY!

  1. I read “A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man” before. I tried to read “Ulysses” but never did…heehee
And I still remember the first paragraph:
“Once upon a time and a very good time there was a moocow coming down along the road and this moocow that was coming down along the road met a nice little boy named baby tuckoo”
