My heart is breaking

From bad to worse… the remaining residents have been ordered to evacuate indefinately.
ALL RESIDENTS ON THE EAST BANK OF ORLEANS AND JEFFERSON REMAINING IN THE METRO AREA ARE BEING TOLD TO EVACUATE AS EFFORTS TO SANDBAG THE LEVEE BREAK HAVE ENDED. THE PUMPS IN THAT AREA ARE EXPECTED TO FAIL SOON AND 12-15 FEET OF WATER ARE EXPECTED IN THE ENTIRE EAST BANK.
From this site again.
The only reason I left New Orleans seven years ago was for the lucrative job market back home in the Bay Area. Egads, I love that city. The worries for my friends start all over again.
Still no word on Todd’s house full o’ kitties. But the Marigny wasn’t flooded so we can only hope that the Bywater does as well.
Please donate what you can. Blood & money are desperately needed.

  1. *sigh* New Orleans is gone. It’s sad. The ironic thing is that I received an application from Tulane University today. What’s the use of filling it out if TU is gone? I feel sorry and I’m praying for the survivors of this tragedy.

  2. This MAY be a silly question, but if I give blood up in Maine, will it go down to help New Orleans? This is really a horrible thing to happen, and I’d like to help. No cash to speak of, but I’m full of blood. I’m an O, so I think I’m a universal donor. I’m going out on Thursday, so I should look for a location to give now.
I think I’ll qwell my fear of needles for a good cause.

  3. I believe that New Orleans is tough! She will rebuild, she will be whole again! Too many people love her, and she will live again. It may take a while… but I doubt this hurricane… or any hurricane will k!ll her off compleatly. I pray for those down there, may they make it out safely.

  4. Okay I’m going ahead with giving blood. I’m an O – so I can donate to lots of folks. I’m giving New Orleans and the south my love, I hope for the best in this situation.
