Dollfie Day

I finally got my extended Thanksgiving Holiday dollfie day. Got up this morning, pulled out the supplies and started painting in my pajamas.
I had finally found a 18/0 gauge brush at Amsterdam and hadn’t had the opportunity to use it.
Lavinia is a doll I conceived of doing soon after I got my first Volks body and realized how easily the hands are removed.
For those not familiar, Lavinia is one of Shakespeare’s most abused characters from his most infamous & violent play “Titus Andronicus.”
“By S. Clarke Hulse’s count, Titus Andronicus is a play with ’14 killings, 9 of them on stage, 6 severed members, 1 rape (or 2 or 3, depending on how you count), 1 live burial, 1 case of insanity and 1 of cannibalism–an average of 5.2 atrocities per act, or one for every 97 lines.'”
In Shakespeare’s own scene notes it reads “Enter DEMETRIUS and CHIRON with LAVINIA, ravished; her hands cut off, and her tongue cut out”
And that brings us to… Lavinia

Next we have a repaint, re-style. This was one of my earlier dolls. But not early enough to excuse the original horrible paint job. And especially since it was supposed to be me, in a highly idealized, fantasy sort of way. Well, the original boil crimp had long fallen out, and since been squashed in my recent move. She was a perfect candidate for an overhaul! She has and NDR Ellie-ish head. And she got the same do as above, but it was combed out just a bit and re-gel’d and sprayed.Kallisti is wearing a Bratz Boys outfit. I liked the roughed up vintage leather and the orange retro shirt. This is what redheds are supposed to wear, I never manage too.
Like the accordian.
The painting on both of these is much finer, if still a little clumsy. But LO! The difference between these and any of my other customizations. I, too, can make a fine line.

Lavinia definately needed some texture to her hair, and since I planned on restyling the doll below as well, I used a similar technique of twisting the hair, then wrapping it around a pipe cleaner. This gives what in essence is the opposite of a sausage curl. For Lavinia I sprayed them heavily and endeavored to keep the spirals all intact. She needed to have angry snakes for hair.
Oh, and I made the dress too. A simple sack made out of cheese-cloth, then wetted, starched and ironed. It is a terrible piece of workmanship, but that is what I wanted, so lucky me!

A moment of silence please.
I just put the deposit down for my FCS F-13 order with Rudi. I die.

Can’t resist Santa Girls…

or posting Azone’s updated deluxe size pictures of the new Seasons outfits.

I wish’d they’d done it in classic red and white too though. I like Santa.
Looks like Azone is using the Obitsu body more and more. Better body, bad hands though. Hate the Obitsu hand sculpt.
“Can’t resist Santa Girls”… oh yes I can, when you have to buy the doll to get the outfit. Piffle! They’re doing a Christmas Lycee.
But I don’t like the doll and she couldn’t sell for enough to make it worth while to buy it just for the outfit.

Little Peach Girl

Wooo! A new dollfie! And my third attempt at rooting. I think I finally got it down.
This tiny girl is still nameless. I tried to name her, really did. But nothing happened.
In any case, she’s a Volks Mini B in Beauty White. I love the minis, and the paler the better. Unfortunately I have to root the white heads. I got the root done in two sessions, one short and one long. Probably 6 hours total. That’s a lot of work!
SO. Tiny girl has peach and green NDR hair. Peach & Green!!! It definately looks pinker in person than in these photos. I also went for more of an anime look than I usually do, because mini faces are so hard. When all else fails, go for the big anime eyes! Works every time. The painting is a little heavier than I wanted. I have to come up with softer colors, I usually use gray. But this brown is too burgundy. Bleh. But I’m really happy with her little face though.

These photos have crappy color. Bleh. She’s much cuter in person. So say I.
This also ties in with the new fashion finds theme below, except these aren’t in white. Here she is first off sporting a Bratz prom dress. I’ve been dying for this outfit but was resisting, until I started rooting the peach hair. What could be more perfect than a peach fairy dress? Hrm?
Another Bratz outfit, Jade has all the cool clothes, I don’t think I’ve bought any of the other Bratz girls to steal outfits. Jade’s are usually Asian themed, which is just cool. Everything fits just barely, and the pants were 1/4 inch too long so I just cut them off. Love the bag!

Winter Runway

Made a lot of fashion finds recently, not the least of which being the Azone Athena dress that got lost in the Japan post for three months. Curiously, these are all white. Just in time for winter (which isn’t white where I come from).
Here’s Mieux modeling the white Athena dress & boots.
Also, I’ve had super good luck on two Lollipop Girls outfits I bought off Ebay sans dolls. First in our line-up is Miette wearing Nicole’s frilly frou-frou outfit. I originally wanted this for a volks mini outfit, but the bodice is just too large to look right. On a Volks A figure the fit is absolutely perfect due to the stretchy bodice fabric. The outfit is soooo cute and comes with little panties too. I need to find the right stockings and shoes though.
And then we have Molly all wrapped up in Suzy’s Seattle Winter duds. The quality on this outfit is super nice. The coat and pants are a linen like cotton, and the coat actually has inset pockets. The pants barely fit and are a bit too long, hence the chunky boots that don’t really go this this outfit.

Galaxy Express

Made a day trip into China Town (San Francisco) today. Did good not spending alot of money. The last shop we were in was an Asian video/dvd/vcd shop, and we made a beeline to the porn basement.
But on the way down I spotted a copy of a Galaxy Express DVD, and it was the all region version. Wooo!
I’d actually shopped it recently on ebay, and it appears to be the same Hong Kong copy I was seeing there. Nice to pick it up in person though.
I haven’t seen it since, er… my late teens! Over 15 years… aaaagh! But I got a Maetel doll by Marmit earlier this year, and got into a discussion with a co-worker on Galaxy Express when he saw her on my desk. So… had to have it. It’s about time.
SO. Tomorrow while I finish rooting that beauty white mini with peach and green hair (weeee!) I’ll spend the day watching anime.
Pull out the Sol Bianca tapes too.
Oh! A little China Town gem… I couldn’t believe this li’l 1.5″ fella made it past the censors. He’s a little anatomically correct kitty incense burner. I die!

And no, that is not his tail. His tail is in back.

Sailor Pinky, ahoy!

Got the Volks “Who’s That Girl” Juliet Jams punky sailor outfit…

Sailor Pinky - Volks Juliet Jams

Here’s Pinky in her new duds posing with Sailor Gay Billy!

Sailor Pinky & Gay Billy

These outfits are designed specifically for the WTG line, based on the Beauty S Volks body. So the fit is pretty tight. I had to switch Pinky’s body to an EB A from an H and even then the outfit is a little tight. Even these stockings, unlike the other WTG stockings I got, are made for the delicate Beauty Body feet and were kinda tough to get on.
Pinky don’t care, its a fashion statement.

The Goth Loli Halloween Parade

Weee! What better excuse than Halloween than to get aaaaall my dolls dressed up in Lolita outfits.
I ran out of dolls though, I actually have more Gothic Lolita outfits than I do dolls, or space to display and photograph them.

We drove all over California Saturday trying to track down the few remaining tiny light-up pumpkins. It was a quest… I ended up with way more groovy Halloween crap than I needed, oh well!

Halloween for Dollfies

Yay! My first new dollfie since I got married and moved!

Most of my dolls have been in boxes since we moved. I actually started this one (she’s still nameless) ages ago when I rooted the head. This is my second root job (the first is too gross to be mentioned) and I used the purple NDR GLOW IN THE DARK hair! It really glows. Under regular light it is a pale matte lavendar, very pretty.
Mieux (maybe I’ll call her that) is a Beauty White J body with huge knockers, very hard to come by these days.
